Come one, come all!
Hi there, and welcome to Wonderfully Odd. You can call me Panda and I am wonderfully odd. I embrace my differences and never worry about fitting the status quo. We're all wonderfully odd, and should all embrace who we are, and love ourselves.
I'm pretty new (totally new) to this blogging thing, so please bear with me. I'm starting this blog because in my journeys, I've hit many walls looking for the perfect products to help me achieve a 50's look. (And I love a 50's look!) Now, I suppose typically this isn't too difficult, but as an African American girl, there aren't a lot of tutorials, products and - just plain 'ol help - geared toward me. I'm hoping that maybe I'll be able to help other women who are stumped by how to achieve glossy curls (for any hairstyle), flowing waves, on natural, straightened or hair. Also along the way, I'll be posting other things I love, such as, makeup tutorials, reviews, cooking and a whole bunch of pictures of my cats!

About Panda ~
Well, I'm going to try and keep this short. I'm a 22-year-old girl, woman...err...thing, who's just trying to make it through this world. I'm a vegan, a spiritualist, an animal lover, an artist and many other things. I love hair and makeup, music, reading, cooking and one of my greatest passions in helping. I have 5 brothers and sisters, and even though we're all incredibly different, I love them all for their differences. Even so, I'm pretty close with my younger brother and sister, who are both pretty close to my age. My sister and I are both on this natural hair journey and just learning to live healthier lifestyles. I have three cattys, who I love to death, and you'll probably see a lot of them!
I'd like to think of myself as friendly, though I am an introvert. However! I am here to help, so please, always feel free to reach out to me whether that be here, on my YouTube, or my Facebook. I don't bite! :D
My Story ~
I was once a young tomboy, who wouldn't wear a skirt or a dress for anything in the world! But that all changed the day I saw a corset up close. I wanted to know more! That led me to Miss Dita Von Teese, who then led me to YouTube, thus hundreds of tutorials on pin curling, makeup and many other frilly, feminine things. I borrowed my first stick of red lipstick from my mom, and never returned it. This was only a few years ago. Since then, I've been slowing finding my way to achieve this look that those women had in those "old fashiony" magazines (while incorporating pieces of other styles I like). I soon realized that it wasn't easy for me to accomplish one of the most important features of those women - the glossy and polished hair! At that time, I knew nothing about hair. I knew nothing about relaxers, straighteners or anything of the sort. I tried anyway. I found a tutorial on YouTube, but my hair just wasn't turning out right. So I gave up, and began wearing wigs.
Some of my earlier attempts at pin curls.
Though, these days I wouldn't go back to wearing wigs, I am grateful for them. They gave my hair a chance to recover from bleaching, a relaxer (that I should have never used .___.), and heat damage. Back in 2012 when I went to rinse my freshly-relaxed hair, I was surprised to see not only the relaxer being flushed down the drain, but also my hair. So yeah... Anyhow, after I wearing the wigs for a whole year, I'd gained some length and confidence in my pin curling, as I'd been practicing the entire time I was wearing the wigs. Of course, pin curling a synthetic wig, and pin curling African American hair were totally different, but it was a start. Since then, I've been searching for the best products and learning the best techniques for my hair, and I am here to share those with you! (Along with some other things) So I thank you for reading, and hope you enjoy the blog!
